This is a typical Polish starter, served either before the main meal or as breakfast during the winter. It’s worth mentioning that Polish sausage is famous around the world, especially in the USA, where it’s known by its Polish name, kiełbasa. The first sausages were documented in Cracow in the 15th century. They became more popular in the 17th century during the era of the Saxon kings. Polish kings from Saxony loved them so much that a good cook was expected to prepare them in many ways.
